ROMA (ITALPRESS) – Today in Rome, in the presence of the Minister of the University and Research, Anna Maria Bernini, and Cardinal José Tolentino de Mendonça, Prefect of the Dicastery for Culture and Education, the inauguration of the new Studentate Seraphicum, in Via del Serafico 3.
The structure was born from the collaboration between the Friars Minor Conventuali and the Ministry of University and Research (MUR), thanks to the resources of the PNRR, and will provide 173 beds, distributed in 108 single and double rooms, intended for university students.
The project is a concrete project for the right to study in the Capital, offering accommodation at calm prices, including utilities, fiber wi-fi and cleaning. 52 beds will also be reserved for students with fewer economic possibilities thanks to the convention with the regional agency for the right to study DiSCo Lazio.
“The realization of the student – says Father Roberto Liggeri, responsible for the new structure – is a very important result for which all the subjects that made it possible, starting from the Ministry of University and Research must be thanked”.
“The new Seraphicum Student – says the Minister of the University and Research, Anna Maria Bernini – is another concrete result of the Housing Plan, with which we exceeded the target of the PNRR, activating over 63 thousand new beds for students throughout Italy. With the structure we wish today we add new places to a system that is growing all over the country to respond to a real need for students and their families. This is how we make the right to study stronger.”.
The inauguration ceremony opened with the greetings of Fr. Carlos Alberto Trovarelli, Minister General of the Friars Minor Conventual, who followed the traditional cut of the tape in the presence of the Minister of the University and Research, Anna Maria Bernini, accompanied by the blessing of Cardinal José Tolentino de Mendonça, Prefect of the Dicastery for Culture and Education.
He then intervened Father Maurizio Di Paolo, Attorney General of the Order of the Friars Minor Conventuals who wanted to underline, how much it is “a joy for us Friars, while we celebrate the eighth centenary of the death of St. Francis, to start a new story for this building, in which he returns to terrify the youth, thirsty for knowledge and life, which is not satisfied with a room, but seeks care and attention”. “The decision on the new destination of the spaces was the fruit – Father Maurizio Di Paolo explained – of listening to the territory and society”.
