Hungary “EU isolated, must support Trump’s efforts on Ukraine”

BRUSSELS (BELGIUM) (ITALPRESS) – It is not Hungary that is isolated “but the European Union.” Balasz Orban, political adviser to Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, said this on the sidelines of the European Council in Brussels. “We have broken an economic and energy partnership based on pragmatism with Russia, and this has cost us a lot of money. We started a trade war with China, and now we see a clash with the new U.S. leadership on trade relations and over ideological issues,” the adviser said about Brussels policies. “We Hungarians can tolerate disagreements within the EU, but this strategy leads nowhere, we have to change,” he finally noted.

Speaking of the United States, Balasz Orban pointed out that Hungary “encourages Europe” to support Washington in its negotiating efforts by talking with the Trump administration on how it can pressure both Moscow and Kiev to reach a solution. “What we can do now is to support the Americans, who are using all their resources right now to change the situation,” the Hungarian premier’s adviser said.
