ROMA (ITALPRESS) – From training at the entrance to McDonald’s restaurants in Capital. It’s the path started with “Beyond the Frontiers”, the project of employment for young refugees presented in the local street Casal del Marmo, in Rome. The initiative is promoted by MDC Fast Food Srl, the company of the brand’s licensor, with P&G Alumni Italia Foundation, Seniores Italia Lazio ODV and Comunità di Sant’Egidio. “The project aims to integrate refugee children and is born from the partnership with McDonald’s and third sector associations. It is a path of inclusion, which is one of the fundamental values of McDonald’s and the role of the licensee is to start from the founding values of the company and decline them throughout the territory”, the words of Domenico Di Carluccio, licensee McDonald’s.
Some young people welcomed by the Community of Sant’Egidio followed a training course funded by the foundation and organized by Seniores Italia Lazio. “Our role is to support and promote inclusion projects. In this project we have made a bridge with the association Seniores Italia in Lazio and McDonald’s. The training courses are structured on two levels: a theorist, carried out free of charge by the volunteers of the association, and a practical one, with specific paths to involve the boys in the profession”, adds Cinzia Gaeta, President Procter & Gamble Alumni Italia Foundation.
After overcoming the talks for the positions offered by MDC Fast Food, they entered the working groups of some Roman restaurants managed by the company. The path also provides support for Italian learning, to facilitate work and daily life.
The presentation was attended by Marco Della Porta, president of the Town Hall XIV. The project brings together those who are welcoming, those who organize training and an enterprise that offers employment opportunities. For young people involved, work can become a step towards economic autonomy and integration in the community. “In this territory we strongly believe in the alliance for the common good. We work together for collective growth goals. Collaboration with the third sector, to provide work to refugee children, is something important and we try to intercept people’s needs,” says Della Porta.
The initiative is accompanied by the activities of the Community of Sant’Egidio for people arriving in Italy through humanitarian corridors. According to the data of the organization, since February 2016 the program, funded by civil society, has welcomed and started to integration paths 7.816 people. The promoters hope that collaboration can continue and extend to other regions.
