MILAN (ITALPRESS) – Not an easy win for Inter Milan, which beat Leipzig 1-0 and momentarily climbed to first place in the maxi Champions League standings. An own goal in the first half by Lukeba was decisive, with also a goal cancelled in the final for the Nerazzurri signed by Mkhitaryan. Intense start to the match by Inter, who often showed up on Gulacsi’s side, conceding little to a Leipzig side that was nonetheless in the game. The turning point, however, came in 27′, with Dimarco’s deflected free kick taken by Dimarco ending in the net following a deflection into his own goal by Lukeba. Advantage that consolidates Inter’s dominance, which suffers little even after the 1-0 goal but without any particular flare-ups in the offensive phase. We go to halftime with Inter ahead but forced to substitute Pavard for Bisseck due to a physical problem that occurred to the Frenchman at the end of the first half. Instead, the resumption begins with a nice Nerazzurri chance, initiated and finished by Dumfries, who is good at getting rid of a couple of opponents on the right and unloading the ball that he will receive moments later under the goal by Lautaro, without then managing to beat Gulacsi. Leipzig trying to up the pressing, with Rose trying to implement some adjustments to his set-up despite the few players available on the bench. However, Inzaghi’s eleven appeared to be quite in control, with the Germans, however, showing themselves between 68′ and 69′, first with Kampl’s volley from the distance, wide; then Nusa’s flat right-footer, on which Sommer intervened in the dive. Physical decline also on the Nerazzurri’s side, with Inzaghi forced to make a few changes to keep up the focus of a match in which Inter had the better of the game expressed but failed to close it out. In the first of the four minutes of stoppage time it would be Mkhitaryan’s signature to make it 2-0, cancelled however for an alleged foul whistled by the referee for an intervention by Thuram. Inter still managed to bring home a result that was not wide but deserved overall. – Photo Ipa Agency -(ITALPRESS).
