Massive blaze in Rome injures four first responders

A large fire broke out in Rome’s Cinecittà Est area, causing significant damage and injuring four first responders, including firefighters and civil protection volunteers. The blaze, which erupted at 1 PM, spread rapidly across the so-called “pratone,” an area encompassing Cinecittà Est, Torre Spaccata, Lamaro, Don Bosco, and Cecafumo. The thick smoke reached nearby buildings, prompting some residents to evacuate their apartments.

The President of the Lazio Region, Francesco Rocca, expressed concern for the injured in a Facebook post, stating, “I am closely monitoring the health conditions of the three volunteers and the firefighter who were burned this afternoon, along with the ASL officials. They are receiving treatment at Sant’Eugenio. My thoughts, along with those of the entire Region, are with them.”

The fire response efforts are ongoing as teams work to control the blaze and prevent further injuries or damage.
