Milan, at the club museum a new accessibility project for people with disabilities

MILANO (ITALPRESS) – 23 years after its birth, Fondazione Milan wanted to launch a new accessibility project for people with visual disabilities set up in the Museo Mondo Milan. The journey that is proposed to visitors is a story through images and memorabilia of a constant and constantly evolving commitment, able to focus on relevant issues and generate a positive change through sport. Just think that Fondazione Milan has devoted more than 13 million euros of social investments that since 2003 have had a concrete impact on the life of more than 200,000 beneficiaries, through 288 projects in Italy and in 24 countries worldwide. A commitment that starts from Milan and extends internationally, confirming Fondazione Milan as one of the most structured philanthropic realities in the European sports scene. With the new project, presented on this occasion by public charity alongside Sara Assicurazioni, Milan becomes the first club in Italy to adopt Tag System technology to make its headquarters and its museum increasingly accessible to visitors with visual disabilities.

By scanning with a free App the more than 50 tags installed at Casa Milan and Museo Mondo Milan, the first museum in Milan and the second in Italy to avail of this solution, visitors receive contextual and multilingual audio indications to orientate themselves in space and immerse themselves in the red-black world. Designed to respond to a specific need for accessibility and transformed into an inclusive experience aimed at the entire audience, this tool overturns traditional paradigms and strengthens the link between the club and the community, reasserting how its headquarters is an inclusive space open to the milanists, sports enthusiasts and the whole city. An evolution that also consolidates the redeployment commitment, already recognized as a best practice for initiatives such as the audiodescription service of San Siro matches and the LIS translation of the first male team’s press conferences.

“I really like to use Fondazione Milan to use this great name of Milan and intervene on many fields of social life. Today was an example of what we do: we launch two or three important projects a year and I must say with great results that contribute on the one hand to do good and on the other to increase the reputation of our club”, said the president of the club and Fondazione Milan, Paolo Scaroni.

The Disability Minister, Alessandra Locatelli, said that this initiative is not only important, but also launches “a powerful message that arrives not only in our country, but goes beyond borders. We make a museum available, a space dedicated to sports. So also in Italy culture and sport can be lived by everyone, because it really becomes something that affects every person. I see that there is a great enthusiasm also in the intention to comment on the matches, to give people more and more times than just spot experiences, but projects in continuity from here and for the future. This is perfectly combined with what we are carrying out with the reform of disability and the fact that in each person we must look at the potential and not the limits. But above all, in order to improve the quality of life of all, we must make museums, spaces, transport and leisure accessible. I mean, everything that concerns every person.”.

“We are proud to support Fondazione Milan in this important milestone and have actively contributed to making Casa Milan and its Museum an even more inclusive place. As a Insurance Company, the protection and well-being of people are at the heart of our work and for this we have chosen to support the adoption of Tag System technology, which allows to break down architectural and sensory barriers through digital innovation. Beside the first football club in Italy to implement this solution confirms our commitment to promoting a culture of accessibility that puts every visitor, without distinction, in the condition of fully living the passion and history of the club Rossonero” said Alberto Tosti, general manager of Sara Assicurazioni.
