Milan slams Genoa, 0-0 and booing at San Siro

MILAN (ITALPRESS) – On the day of Milan’s 125th anniversary celebration, Fonseca’s boys slammed against Genoa’s defensive wall. At San Siro a drab 0-0 snuffed out the enthusiasm of an emotionally charged pre-match. Especially Morata, who sent the winning ball over the crossbar in the second half, will not sleep easy dreams. Contested the Rossoneri club. Valuable point, on the other hand, for Genoa, author of a solid test and personality.
Before the starting whistle, on the Meazza lawn, the club’s birthday celebrations took place. The fans thus enjoyed a nostalgic parade of old Rossoneri glories: from Inzaghi to Seedorf, then on to Baresi and Van Basten, to name a few. Milan also took the field, wearing a limited edition vintage jersey, the details of which were voted on and chosen directly by the fans. Returning, however, to the soccer played, the first half was dominated for long stretches by the Rossoneri, while Genoa struggled to get out of their own half. The rumors from the eve regarding Milan’s lineup were eventually confirmed: youngsters Jimenez and Liberali in fact start from the first minute. The sharpest chance for the hosts came on 23′, when Reijnders’ powerful conclusion ended just high after a slight deflection. Chukwueze’s subsequent attempt is also inaccurate. In the finale, Jimenez tries as well, but Leali parries without any trouble. The Rossoblù goalkeeper rises to the occasion already after a few seconds of the second half, putting his big hand on Emerson Royal’s insidious header. Compared to the first half, Genoa now plays with more enterprise, although it does not create substantial dangers. Although conceding more ground to the opponents, Milan again came close to scoring at 76′: on a counterattack, Morata’s shot on the turn ended up just wide. Again the Spaniard, three minutes later, rattles the crossbar from a close position. The final did not give any particular ring, except for Martin’s free kick in the recovery, which was wide high. At Guida’s triple whistle, the Rossoneri were overwhelmed by the booing of their fans: there was also no shortage of chants against the ownership. Vieira’s new Genoa smiles (the coach is unbeaten after four games): hooked Roma and Lecce at 16.
