Minister Pichetto Fratin inaugurates the exhibition “Water, biodiversity and landscape” on 29 September in Rome

ROMA (ITALPRESS) – It will be the Minister of the Environment and Energy Security Gilberto Pichetto Fratin to inaugurate, Tuesday, September 29 at 11:30, at the Roma Convention Center – La Nuvola (Concourse, Piano 0), the multimedia exhibition “Water, biodiversity and landscape. A journey through the Protected Areas of Italy” within the EuroMediterranean Water Forum, scheduled in Rome from 29 September to 2 October 2026.

The exhibition is promoted by UNESCO World Water Assessment Programme (WWAP) and UniVerde Foundation, with the accession of the One Water Committee Italy, and enjoys the patronage of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and the Ministry of Environment and Energy Security.

The route brings together 50 images dedicated to water, biodiversity and landscapes preserved by the Protected Areas of Italy, selected among the photographs candidates for the national photo contest “Obiettivo Terra”. A story for images of the extraordinary variety of Italian natural heritage – from rivers to lakes, from wetlands to brackish and coastal environments – that accompanies the observer to discover the deep link between water resource, ecosystems, species and protected landscapes. The contest “Obiettivo Terra”, ready to launch the 18th edition, is dedicated to the valorization of the environmental heritage guarded by the Italian Protected Areas and today also includes Natura 2000 sites, Biosphere Reserves and UNESCO Geoparks.

Partner of the initiative are EUR S.p.A., South S.p.A. and ANBI. Supporting organizations are Utilitalia, Federparchi – Europarc Italia and Società Geografica Italiana.

The exhibition is part of the official programme of the EuroMediterranean Water Forum, an international event dedicated to comparing institutions, scientific communities, economic operators and civil society on the challenges related to sustainable water management in the Mediterranean.
