Nissan hosts annual wheelchair race to promote inclusion

YOKOHAMA (JAPAN) (ITALPRESS) – Nissan will host its 25th national wheelchair race on Dec. 1 in Yokosuka, Japan. The event aims to promote disability sports, support the creation of inclusive cities and contribute to the development of Paralympic athletes. The Nissan Cup Oppama Championship will be held on the GRANDRIVE test track at the Oppama plant. More than 60 athletes from across the country, from Paralympians to beginners, are expected to compete in 2.5-kilometer, 5-kilometer and 10-kilometer races. This competition is one of the few in Japan where athletes can compete regardless of age and whether or not they have disabilities. The event, in past years, has been the entry into the world of sports for many Paralympic athletes. In addition, a wheelchair experience exchange event dedicated to local elementary school students will be held on Nov. 29. This initiative gives them, through play, the opportunity to understand the importance of empathy and coexistence among people with different abilities. Nissan wants to be a truly sustainable company and contribute to achieving a cleaner, safer and more inclusive society. Therefore, Nissan will continue to carry out initiatives aimed at promoting and supporting the development of disability sports.
