PALERMO (ITALPRESS) – “Thirty-four years ago, Judge Rosario Livatino was barbarously killed in a Mafia ambush on his way to the Agrigento courthouse. A courageous magistrate, a man of faith and a servant of the state, Livatino paid with his life for his commitment to the fight against organized crime. Through his investigations he was among the first to identify the close links that linked the underworld and business groups, thus giving new life to the action against the mafias. We remember his sacrifice today so that the values that inspired him continue to be a beacon of hope and an example for all those who, opposing the logic of prevarication and violence, are committed every day to the defense of legality and justice.” This was stated by Interior Minister Matteo Piantedosi in memory of the figure of Judge Rosario Livatino, who was murdered on Sept. 21, 1990.
