Pope Francis “Faith should not be manipulated to increase hatred”

ROME (ITALPRESS) – “There are cases where faith in God is continually placed in the foreground, but often unfortunately to be manipulated, to serve not to build peace, communion, dialogue, respect, collaboration, fraternity, but to foment divisions and increase hatred.” Thus Pope Francis to political and social authorities in Jakarta on his second day of pastoral visit.
“True harmony,” the Pontiff stressed, “is achieved when each person is committed not only to his or her own interests and vision, but with a view to the good of all, to build bridges, to foster agreements and synergies, to join forces for the purpose of defeating all forms of moral, economic, and social misery, and to promote peace and concord.
Francis then met privately with the approximately 200 Jesuit brethren present in Indonesia.
