Sailing boat sinks in the Palermo area, one dead and six missing

A sailing vessel sank in the early hours of the morning in the sea of ​​Porticello, in the Palermo area. This is the Bayesian Yacht built in 2008 by the Perini Navi Viareggio shipyard which currently sails under the flag of the United Kingdom (UK). 22 people on board, of which 15 were rescued. One victim is confirmed, while six people are missing.

The vessel was located at 49 meters deep. At the base of the shipwreck there would be a tornado, linked to the bad weather of the last few hours. According to what has been reconstructed, the vessel, flying the English flag, lost control around 5 in the morning. Among the people saved by the Coast Guard patrol boats was also a one-year-old boy, who is in good condition and was transported to the children’s hospital for checks. The commander was also saved and should be heard by the investigators in the next few hours. The 22 occupants of the sailing boat were all foreigners. Among the missing were four Britons, two Americans and a Canadian. Among those missing is the cook.
