Surgery, the risks and complications of laparoscopic cholecystectomy

ROME (ITALPRESS) – What are the risks and how to prevent them in laparoscopic cholecystectomy surgery? Minimally invasive surgery for gallbladder removal is becoming increasingly popular, but it does not exclude possible complications. Those complications have been studied by Professor Gianfranco Gualdi, a medical luminary and scientific director of the “Diagnostic Imaging” service of the CONI Institute of Medicine and Sports Sciences, who has compiled his findings in a thorough report. Professor Gualdi’s report will be presented between October 13 and 16 during the 126th National Congress of SIC-Italian Society of Surgery, dedicated to “Laparoscopic cholecystectomy: skills, prevention and multidisciplinary treatment.” In his talk, Professor Gualdi will delve into the possible complications of laparoscopic cholecystectomy with demonstrative images of fluid collections, abscesses and bleeding that can occur during or after the procedure. In addition to this, possible biliary tract resections and vascular injuries that can complicate the procedures will also be analyzed.
