Tajani urges Italians in Lebanon to leave amid growing tensions

Italian Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Antonio Tajani has reiterated his government’s advice for Italians working in Lebanon to leave the country as soon as possible. Speaking on the sidelines of the European People’s Party (EPP) Parliamentary Assembly, Tajani confirmed that the recommendation has been in place for some time due to the escalating situation in the region.

“There are still flights available from Beirut to Western destinations,” Tajani emphasized, urging Italian nationals to take advantage of the opportunity to depart. According to the minister, fewer than 300 Italians are currently in Lebanon for work-related reasons.

However, the situation is different for the approximately 3,000 Italian citizens with dual citizenship. Many of them, Tajani noted, have chosen to stay, as they have no immediate interest in leaving the country despite the government’s advice.
