In a tragic incident that has sent shockwaves through the community of Costa Volpino, 18-year-old Sara Centelleghe was found dead in her apartment on Via Nazionale 142. Authorities believe she was killed by a neighbor, Jashan Deep Badhan, during a moment when she was alone. The murder occurred while Sara was with a friend, who left to buy a drink from a nearby vending machine. Upon returning, the friend discovered Sara’s lifeless body, highlighting the brutal nature of the attack.
Sara, who was about to turn 19 next month, lived with her mother, who was out at the time of the incident. According to reports, after being stabbed, Sara attempted to escape but collapsed on the floor of her apartment. She was a student at the Ivan Piana High School for Social Health in Lovere. Investigators found that the assailant had left a trail of blood, indicating a desperate escape route after the crime.
Law enforcement quickly responded to the scene, with investigations led by Deputy Prosecutor Giampiero Golluccio and the Public Prosecutor, Maurizio Romanelli. Initial inquiries ruled out robbery as a motive for the murder, prompting officers to focus on Sara’s acquaintances and neighbors. This investigation took a significant turn on Saturday morning when Badhan, a peer of Sara, was taken into custody.
Later that day, Badhan was seen leaving the police station handcuffed and hooded, after reportedly confessing to the crime. He lives in a nearby apartment within the same building complex. As of now, the motive behind the stabbing remains unclear, but Badhan has been charged with voluntary homicide. Authorities have confirmed that no other individuals are being investigated in connection to the case, and the weapon believed to have been used in the attack is a pair of scissors.
