ROME (ITALPRESS) – smart is celebrating the European premiere of the smart #5, the company’s first premium mid-size SUV, marking a new step toward future mobility. With this model, the brand expands its range with the most spacious and versatile electric vehicle ever made.

Following the success of smart #1 and smart #3, the new smart #5 is the brand’s first mid-size SUV, designed to offer more space, greater versatility and advanced technologies. Thanks to its 800-volt platform, the model provides extended range and ultra-fast charging capabilities. In addition to its advanced electric propulsion system, smart #5 integrates state-of-the-art driver assistance technologies and an intelligent cabin, elevating comfort and convenience for all passengers. Its spacious design and versatile features make this car ideal for meeting the needs of an increasingly sustainable mobility-conscious European customer base.
smart #5 will be available in five versions, with an additional high-performance variant coming later. smart #5 Pro: equipped with a 76 kWh LFP (Lithium-Iron-Phosphate) battery, it offers advanced comfort, panoramic roof, advanced connectivity and driver assistance systems. From smart #5 Pro+ onwards: the higher versions mount a 100 kWh NCM (Nickel-Manganese-Cobalt) battery, which provides a range of up to 590 km (WLTP) and high charging performance thanks to the 800-volt platform. smart #5 Pulse: equipped with all-wheel drive with dual motors, extra-large OLED center display and high-efficiency heat pump for optimal comfort in all conditions. smart #5 Premium: a refined driving experience with elegant details, premium trim and a wide range of color customizations. smart #5 Summit Edition: designed for adventure, it combines luxury and functionality with dedicated accessories such as an electric trailer hitch, roof platform and side ladder, as well as an exclusive livery.
In addition to its urban qualities, it offers dedicated features for off-road driving. The Pulse and Summit Edition versions feature five driving modes specific to different surfaces: Adaptive, Sand, Snow, Mud and Rock. With 0-60 mph acceleration in just 4.9 seconds, it delivers outstanding dynamic performance. Thanks to its 800-volt battery, it offers extraordinary charging capabilities: the 100 kWh NCM battery supports DC charging power of up to 400 kW, enabling it to go from 10% to 80% charge in just 18 minutes under optimal conditions. The ISO 15118-compliant Plug & Charge feature simplifies authentication at compatible charging stations. In addition, with a range of up to 590 km (WLTP), smart #5 is perfect for taking long trips without compromise. An additional new feature is the 230-volt Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) plug, integrated into the charging port, which enables powering electronic devices on the go, making smart #5 a great companion for outdoor enthusiasts and families.
With a wheelbase of 2,900 mm and a length of 4,695 mm, it offers generous space for all passengers. Clever stowage solutions include 34 storage compartments, an illuminated 72-liter front trunk and a rear cargo area of up to 1,530 liters. All seats are adjustable to transform the cabin into an area for relaxation and rest. The interior combines modern design and premium materials with advanced technologies: heated and electrically adjustable rear seats, aviation-style LED reading lights, and an ambient lighting system with 256 shades for an exclusive atmosphere on every journey. At the heart of the digital ecosystem is the AMD V2000 chipset, which powers an intuitive human-machine interface. The system includes a 25.6-inch AR head-up display, a 10.25-inch Full HD digital dashboard, and two 13-inch OLED displays for driver and passenger.
The new voice control system, enhanced by artificial intelligence and joined by the new “Leo” avatar, enables intuitive, hands-free management of many vehicle functions. With the smart OS 2.0 system update also comes new features: navigation optimization for electric vehicles (EV routing) and a new video center, which allows streaming video content directly on board. Using the 3D graphics engine developed by Unreal Engine, the digital interfaces offer a smooth, detailed and easy-to-use visual experience, further enhancing the interaction between user and car. For an immersive sound experience, smart #5 is equipped with the Sennheiser Signature Sound System, featuring 20 high-performance speakers4 and a Dolby Atmos 7.1.4 system that delivers customizable, top-quality audio.
smart #5 integrates advanced safety systems, including V-shaped curtain airbags, seat cushion airbags and integrated seat belts. The steel and aluminum hybrid body ensures optimal rigidity and protection, while the battery pack is designed to ensure maximum safety in all conditions. In Italy, the smart #5 will be available from 47,934.45 euros in the Pro version, 52,934.45 euros in the Pro+ version, 57,434.45 euros in the Premium version, 57,674.45 euros in the Pulse version and 59,174.45 euros in the Summit Edition. All prices include VAT, as well as registration, IPT, commissioning and pre-delivery. The smart #5 will be orderable from April 24, 2025 in Germany, Finland, Norway and Iceland, with gradual expansion into other European markets during the second and third quarters of 2025.
