MILANO (ITALPRESS) – Toto General Constructions (TCG) and Volvo Trucks Italy announce that they have finished an order for 52 new Volvo Trucks trucks destined to the main TCG yards on the national territory, from Sicily to Lombardy. The investment, of approximately 9 million euros, is the result of a shared vision that combines advanced technologies, reduction of the carbon footprint of fleets, attention to the safety of people, energy efficiency with an advanced and sustainable construction logistics.
“We invest in technology to make a difference: on people and on the territory” says Paolo Toto, President and CEO of TCG. “With Volvo Trucks we put on the road a fleet capable of raising the standards of reliability and energy efficiency of our yards and of integrating perfectly technologically the attention that Toto places to the safety of work and the environment, starting from the training up to the use of the most advanced devices. Volvo vehicles are already operating on our shipyards for the new strategic infrastructures for the road, as in those of Central Italy, where we are engaged in seismic safety works on highway and state routes that cross the craters of recent earthquakes”.
The supply includes almost the entire Volvo Trucks range, with the exception of only one model, with configurations chosen to cover the entire spectrum of TCG operations: heavy handling and transport, specialist construction supports, cleaning and washing services, transport and concrete pumping.
At the top, the Volvo FH16 780, the industry’s most powerful engine, selected to combine optimized performance, safety and consumption. Alongside this, FL, FM and FMX have been set up as sweepers, lavastrades, cranes and flats/cassones, betonieres, tippers, concrete pumps and betonpompe, in order to provide TCG with maximum operational versatility in the different yard scenarios.
“Our priority is to bring innovation, safety and training to the workplace,” said Devis Colombo, Sales Manager Volvo Trucks Italy. “From active and predictive safety solutions to aerodynamic development, up to the latest generation Volvo Dynamic Steering, the goal is to reduce driver fatigue, improve stability and promote a more efficient and comfortable driving, with measurable benefits in terms of consumption and emissions.”
The operation is part of a plan of renewal of the fleet of TCG for a total value of 120 million euros articulated over 5 years and is conformed to the Security Plan of the Toto Group and to the campaign #PensaSicuro, aimed at promoting formation, culture of prevention and technological choices oriented to the protection of workers. In collaboration with Volvo Trucks Italia’s Transport Solutions Department, TCG has launched training courses for drivers dedicated to safe driving, energy saving and optimal use of onboard systems, with the aim of consolidating a security culture “beyond the standard”.
For the commercial and technical part, the operation was followed by FIMI Spa of San Benedetto del Tronto, dealer Volvo Trucks who has curated deliveries, fittings and customizations.
“We are proud to support a fleet that raises the sector’s asticella,” says Giuseppe Milazzo, Chairman and Director General of FIMI Spa. “The joint work with TCG and Volvo Trucks puts in place skills, custom configurations and construction times that meet the real needs of the yards, contributing to the development of the local supply chain.”.
“This partnership was born to create value along the whole line: from yards to communities,” concludes Paolo Toto. “Technology, training and responsibility towards the territories: it is the route that we have always followed as an enterprise and that we continue to pursue with commitment and conviction”.
