Triathlon, Giubilei “Sector has no holes and no flaws”

ROME (ITALPRESS) – “The federation in these three and a half years has grown a lot, we have grown in results, awareness and communication. This is due to the policy we have put in place and also to the running of this federation that is modern and dynamic thanks to teamwork.” This was said by the president of the Italian Triathlon Federation, Riccardo Giubilei, during an interview at the Rome office of Italpress. At the last Olympics in Paris, Italy finished sixth in the mixed relay, even touching on the possibility of taking a medal. “A mixed relay that made us dream for a very large part of the race,” the Fitri number one pointed out, “I think it would have been ungenerous to imagine winning an emblèe medal. But the fact of being, for the first time, qualified among the top 10 federations in the world, having 5 athletes (2 men and 3 women) qualified for the Games and, above all, playing as protagonists was the element of growth that then sanctioned the European victory in the relay and the various successes in the World Cup and at the European level. But most of all it enshrined the awareness of growth a sector that now has no holes and no flaws. From the youth up to the elites we have all the generations growing together and that was the main goal we had set for ourselves.” Giubilei was re-elected president last Aug. 31: “It is always a condition of great satisfaction when the Assembly tributes recognition of a work, we have always distinguished ourselves by teamwork. This is the figure of our work and on this we have once again built an assembly that who gave an absolutely positive return.” Italy continues to organize various events also and especially at the international level: “Italy is one of the reference points in the world for the realization of quality international sports events,” Giubilei explained, “Our beautiful locations work in the perspective of sports tourism, but also for the quality of competitive events. We organized, in Cagliari, the last race that awarded Olympic qualification points then the World Cup in Rome, the Paratriathlon Cup in Taranto and even before that, in Pragelato, the Winter Triathlon World Championships. On the basis of this there was a great organizational capacity recognized, but also a centrality and this was a goal we set ourselves from the beginning, that is, to give triathlon the specific weight it must have on the Italian and international sports scene,” he concluded.- photo Italpress -(ITALPRESS)
