TV host Gianni Ippoliti hospitalized after a street attack in Rome

TV host and author Gianni Ippoliti experienced a scary moment over the weekend, ending up in the hospital following a parking-related dispute in the historic center of Rome. The incident occurred late in the evening of Dec. 28 near Via de’ Prefetti, near the Palazzo Montecitorio.

According to reconstructions, Ippoliti was in a parking area when a white van approached him, sparking a heated argument with the driver. The argument quickly escalated: the driver of the vehicle got out and physically assaulted Ippoliti, leaving him injured on the ground before fleeing in the van.

Despite the incident, Ippoliti was quick to jot down details of the vehicle, including the license plate, to help law enforcement identify the attacker. Soon after, he called for help to report what happened.

On the scene, State Police officers and 118 medical personnel attended to Ippoliti and transported him to Holy Spirit Hospital. After the necessary medical examinations, he was declared in good condition and discharged later.

Police are actively investigating the case, having taken Ippoliti’s testimony and analyzing images from surveillance cameras in the area, which may provide additional evidence to help track down the fleeing vehicle and driver.
