Venice Film Festival highlights Veneto’s cultural and cinematic impact

Veneto’s President Luca Zaia praised the region’s stunning beauty and its role as the ideal backdrop for the Venice International Film Festival, emphasizing its potential to showcase the area’s unique attributes and contribute to its cultural and economic development. Speaking ahead of the festival’s 81st edition, Zaia highlighted the significance of the event in promoting Veneto as a prime location for audiovisual productions, which in turn supports local culture, tourism, and employment while enhancing the festival’s global prestige.

Zaia also underscored the Veneto region’s commitment to the cultural sector through substantial investments and support for the Veneto Film Commission. With an anticipated investment of 30 million euros from 2018 to 2027, the region aims to bolster cultural enterprises, drive innovation, and increase employment in the film industry. The presence of Veneto at the festival, with a dedicated space at the Hotel Excelsior on the Lido, reflects the region’s dedication to nurturing and expanding its cinematic ecosystem.

Regional Culture Assessor Cristiano Corazzari highlighted the festival’s rich program, which demonstrates Veneto’s vibrant cultural scene and its connection to cinema. The agenda includes discussions on diverse issues, current themes, European cooperation, and the presentation of various festivals and docufilms. The region also plans to feature the IV Edition of the ACES International Video Awards 2024, aligning with Veneto’s designation as the European Region of Sport for 2024. Each event aims to foster dialogue, promote mutual understanding, and explore new trends and styles, enhancing professional networks and advancing Veneto’s cinematic reputation.
