The 25th Anniversary of the Federation of Campanian Associations USA

The 25th anniversary of the Federation of Campanian Associations USA was celebrated last night in New York, in the presence of numerous dignitaries and members of the Campanian community residing in the United States. An event that highlighted the tireless work of the Federation, a true point of reference for Campanian associations across the country and a symbol of the continuity of Italian traditions on American soil.

The Federation, which brings together the main associations of the Campanian community in the United States, stands as a tangible example of how Italian traditions can continue to thrive in a new and different context, while remaining deeply rooted in memory and values. The Federation’s president, Cav. Nicola Trombetta, spoke to us about the event with emotion and historical awareness: “The Federation was officially founded in 1989, but it was in 2000 that we managed to consolidate our work, uniting the various associations. It’s difficult, but our commitment continues because Campanian traditions must stay alive.”

President Trombetta also highlighted the challenges the Federation has faced over the years, from the closure of some associations due to COVID, to the need to engage younger generations in the cause. “We now have about thirty member associations, and we hope not to decrease further. Our goal is to pass on our roots to the new generations, to our children and grandchildren, because only in this way can we continue to grow our community.”

Among the evening’s distinguished guests was Hon. Christian Di Sanzo, who emphasized the importance of the Federation and its efforts to preserve the historical memory of Campania in the United States. “Twenty-five years of the Federation is a sign of vitality and passion,” said Di Sanzo. “Even today, these associations remain very active throughout the territory and continue to honor their origins, Campania, and all the Campanians who contributed to making the United States great. Best wishes to this association for all the future successes to come.”

Also present was Senator Francesca La Marca, who shared her enthusiasm for the event and expressed satisfaction with the milestone achieved by the Federation. “Today, I am very happy to be here in New York, in the Bronx, to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Federation of Campanian Associations in the USA, a large and important federation that brings together many members. Twenty-five years is an important milestone for any association, but it is even more special given its proximity to International Women’s Day.” La Marca went on to praise Campanian women, saying: “We celebrate the tenacity, skill, and warmth of Campanian women, especially those who pass on their culture here in the United States. Best wishes to all of you!”

Giuseppe Fasanella, awarded as Man of the Year, expressed his gratitude for the invitation and the recognition he received. “It is an honor to be here tonight as an honoree for the 25th anniversary of the Campanian Associations USA. I have always been, and will always be, at the service of Italians. I will do everything possible to pass on our Campanian traditions around the world,” said Fasanella, a true ambassador of Campanian culture.

Anna Malafronte, Woman of the Year, shared her emotion at being part of such a meaningful event. “I am very proud to be here with the Federation of Campanian Associations, as I am of Campanian origin and have worked with them for many years. Thanks to my work at the consulate, I remain involved in this Italian-American community, which I continue to love deeply,” said Malafronte. A commitment that, as she emphasized, she continues to carry forward with heart and dignity.

While presenting the award to Anna Malafronte, President Trombetta underlined: “A woman who has dedicated her life to promoting Italian traditions and strengthening the Campanian community.”

In addition to the awards, the event featured dances and a charity auction, with proceeds going to support the Federation’s activities. Participants had the opportunity to enjoy themselves while also contributing concretely to the growth of the Federation of Campanian Associations USA.

The event, under the leadership of Gala Chairman Enrico Romano, saw the participation of numerous distinguished guests who enriched the evening with their presence and contributions.

Among them were Cav. Tony Pasquale, President of Radio ICN NY, who opened the evening with his remarks. Other well-known faces from the Italian-American community included Cav. Rocco Manzollito, President of the Madonna del Sacro Monte Society, and Professor Maria Di Biagio Abate, who manages public relations for the Federation. Several Federation members were also present, including Michele Maddalena, president of the Sons of Castello del Matese, and Lina Giardullo, who was entrusted with the presentation of flowers during the evening.
